Another cousin!

Carlsen's side has been waiting for baby Emma to pop and just the night before she came out, we had dinner together at Great World City and were all joking that she probably just wanted her final meal in her mummy's tummy to be super scrumptious before coming out. But of course God is the one who gives life, so according to God's timing, Emma (coincidentally) really came out the next day!

Sammie didn't have much reaction when she first saw Emma in the hospital. But when we visited again the next day, she was so upset when I and her Nai Nai carried Emma. Probably because there were so many people around the 1st day and she didn't see us carrying Emma, that the realisation that she soon had to share the attention with Emma hit her on the next day when it was just the few of us around.

And the very next day, Sammie came down with a runny nose and later a bad cough... (Carlsen had the runny nose too the night before and I fell ill a week later. Carlsen was away for reservist for 2 weeks so I guess my immune system was low after looking after sick Sammie.) so we didn't visit till 2 weeks later and Sammie was pretty ok with her cousin by then :) thankfully.

We're thankful for this opportunity for Sammie to learn to "share" attention, love etc with Emma. And we don't have to give birth to another sibling yet (and look after two kiddies at a time) for her to start learning this! :) So she can slowly get used to it, without having her world suddenly changed drasticaly, and hopefully by the time our next child comes along, she'll be a loving Jie-Jie who can look after younger ones.

Friendly kiddies

Kids make friends so easily compared to adults, don't they? Not all kids of course, and it depends on the situation like whether they're going for the same toy... But generally kids warm up a lot faster to other kids.

Here are some photos of Sammie's church friend, Jaeden, holding her hand as we're out for lunch after service some Sundays ago. Jaeden was such a sweet 'kor-kor' to take her around. They don't usually play together on Sundays (1 year apart in age) so it was nice to have lunch together that Sunday.

And here's another photo of Sammie with a total stranger at Bugis Junction Fountain. :) Can't even remember the little girl's name now but she really likes kids, doesn't she??

Cousin Joshie

Jan's sister was back for a few weeks so Sammie had lots of fun playing and going places with Joshie. The last time we saw each other was a year ago so it was exciting to meet up again. We spent most of the time at home so Sammie had to learn to share (though not very willingly) her toys and books. They played pretty well together, but under the watchful eyes of the adults, in case they fought over the same item.

We also went to the Zoo and the playground at Vivocity. That trip to the Zoo was a crazy attempt by the 2 mummies who went up and down at least 3 buses with a toddler each in 1 arm and a stroller in the other, and a huge bag that contained food, drinks etc for the outing because after the outing, we also went for a relative's birthday party. We didn't think that the bus trip would take up that much of our energies. Unfortunately the buses we took were still the old buses with many steps and narrow entrances so they weren't stroller-friendly. Thankfully there were occasions when people helped us. Despite the feat, we enjoyed the adventure! :)

It was wonderful to see the cousins spending time together. Interestingly, Sammie only ate blueberries when Joshie was around. But when we gave her blueberries on other occasions, she always spat them out. We were hoping that she would similarly drink a lot more cow's/formula milk, but that didn't happen unfortunately (she's still being nursed majority of the time). Can't wait for the next time they're back again! :) Really thank God for the time we could spend together!

Childhood friends...

Friends who last a lifetime are hard to come by and it's wonderful to start early... Hope these 3 little ones will be great friends, supporting and encouraging each other as they grow up; and of course that the parents continue our friendship - one since primary school days but mostly since JC :) Not easy to do a photo shoot for 2 babies, let alone 3! So here's the best shot (I think)...
