Sam's in K1!

This year started with another new experience for Sam - another new school (which is explained further below) and taking the school bus! We thank God she adjusted well on the first day because she was excited about taking the school bus like her other friends and one of her classmates was previously from her N1 class in Little Skool House! Though she cried a bit on the second day as she was upset about sitting in a single seater in the bus ("I'm sitting all alone!" she said), thankfully she was totally fine by the third day.

She's been excited about her new school since we took her there to check out the place and to register. We decided to change schools because she could take the school bus which was more convenient than taking the public bus with her and Annette in tow on rainy days. And she usually doesn't want to nap in the afternoon (which is good as she sleeps early and we have more free time at night) so she doesn't have to "waste" the 2 hours allocated at the childcare centre and she doesn't have to be "forced" to nap. And I'm glad it's not a struggle getting her to go to school because she was afraid of the teacher whom she would be under if she were to stay on in the childcare centre.

Among the nearby schools, this school had vacancies when we were looking around last year (unlike many schools with long waiting lists). And it had an attractive playground that we took to immediately once we set our eyes on it. :) And the school fees are affordable (unlike many expensive schools). I often need to remind myself that my kids don't necessarily have to attend those courses to ensure a good education as it is important to live prudently as well, especially since we decided that I should be their main caregiver and thus only depend on Sen's income. They will just need to learn that putting in hard work to achieve success is good for building up one's character even though it's important to work smart too. Besides, what is most important is that they grow in godliness and in the knowledge of Jesus as their Lord that they may have eternal life in God's heavenly kingdom, instead of just doing well in school, getting the best job they want and enjoying life temporarily on Earth. So now every weekday, Sam also gets to listen to Bible stories in school besides just at home.

We thank God she often says that she has a lot of fun in school. She's getting to know more classmates and one of them is a special needs child. We're glad that we have the opportunity to teach Sam how to interact with special needs children at a young age so it brought us joy to hear that she held his hand and now partners him when school ends.
