Sam performed as one of the tortoises in her class play 'The Hare and the Tortoise' which they had been learning in speech and drama class (it's part of her school curriculum though she's only in nursery so we don't have to pay extra for this class! heh...). It was held at 5.30 pm so prior to that, we were busy preparing food for the kids and packing for the hospital stay.
Once the play ended, we headed to Carlsen's parents' place to drop Sam off so she could have her dinner while we were busy with Annette's admission that night. But on the way, someone bumped into our car! (The driver wanted to change lanes but didn't notice our car.) Thank God it was just a minor scratch and dent in the door as all the cars were moving slowly due to a jam. So we could still continue on in our journey after noting the particulars etc, though it did cause a further delay. (And in the end, the driver's insurance had to cover $4000 worth of damages as both doors had to be changed.)
So once we dropped Sam off, we rushed to admit Annette by 7 pm. She was due for sleep by then (though she was rather excited at playing in a huge cot) but the doctors and nurses had to carry out some checks and insert the plug for her drip (as she had to fast from 4 am onwards). Naturally that was another painful process for her to go through and she was sleep deprived too. But she managed to get her sleep by about 930 pm and Carlsen picked Sam up from his parents' place as she wasn't asleep yet.
Annette's sleep was disturbed a few times by her next-door neighbour but I managed to nurse her quickly back to sleep and hoped she could drink as much as she could before her fast started. I had less sleep because I was awakened by another baby's cries though she was further away, other patients coughing away, the rain and the cold winds as well as nurses waking me up to ask when Annette last fed.... but thank God Annette managed to sleep through most of that. :)
